Make Button Requests & Get Coding Assistance with Buttons You Are Working On

Postby wayney on Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:14 pm

Ok, this might be an odd request. Can anyone make a Thunderbird button for FlashGot much like the DTA button below? For Firefox, FlashGot has it's own button(s);although a CustomButton might be better in some ways. Although currently it's a single button with drop down menu to choose the option. But I've looked many times and cannot find one for Thunderbird. One would assume it would be in the Toolbars>Customize menu but I've searched. Searched FlashGot's options as well. I couldn't even begin to know how to start this button because this is way beyond anything I know. But basically, I like the DTA button I linked to. I use DTA a lot but on my mail, tend to use FlashGot more because DTA says there are no images found.

Done. Let me know if you'd like the mouse-click functions changed.

Oh wow! Thank you. I did not see this until tonight. I have what is perhaps a stupid question. I am going to guess that to install in TB, it's the standard right click save as method? Or am I missing something? When I try that, I get the install button prompt and I say ok. It pops up to add to tool bar... go to customize and then the usual. And so I go to customize and try adding it and it's not there. But it's in my FF customize. Now, what stupid thing am I doing wrong? Because I know it has to be something quite simple that I am stupid to overlook. I even looked in the FAQ to see if there were some special secret TB install instructions.

As far as I can see the mouse click functions look fine. I am glad you did options and not something vital as middle click because my middle click is set as a special function through the programmable mouse buttons features of the mouse itself.

Anyway, I am so thrilled to see the button and am sure I'll love it once I figure out that pesky little problem.

Method 1:
You should have an "Import a Button" button in Thunderbird.
Right-click on the button link in the forum, select "Copy link location".
Left-click on the "Import a Button".
The new button should appear to the right of the import button.

Method 2:
Right-click on Thunderbird toolbar and select "Add New Button".
Click "Ok" when the dialog pops up. Move the new button to the position you want.
Right-click on the button link in the forum, select "Copy link location".
Right-click on the new button in Thunderbird, select "Update Button".

:thanks: Thank you so much. I feel stupid now. I knew it'd be something easy to do to install a button. Somehow I kept missing the Import a Button button. Then today even reading your instructions, I missed it. But I got it now.

I love the button. It works great, does exactly what I needed. Thank you soo much. I wish I could do things like this. And maybe if I looked at your code, I could in the future. Eh who am I kidding? I can only do minor edits to buttons that come with "how to customize this button" instructions. Image

I get all the commands from the DOMi. With a little practice you'll be able to do it too.
If you run into trouble just ask and we'll be happy to help.
