Address Bar Site Search

Functionality
Enter some text in the address bar and click to execute a Google Site Search.
Dragging & dropping text from the page also executes a Google Site Search.

Supports
Firefox 2 & 3, maybe others.

Change Log
    1.00 - Initial Release
1.01 - Changed search URL to use Googles "site:" parameter instead of the SiteSearch url. Now search terms show up in the Google Toolbar for highlighting and search history.

Tested with Fx2 (see my sig) - works well. I used to use the button by ithinc. Nice button but did not respond to dragging very well. This one does. Good job, Thank you!

sir i found your Address Bar Site Search very useful,

somehow i thinked to replace my google toolbar custom search button using your's
the issue is:

i have some search terms like:
1. http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s= + searchText +
and
2. http://www.prophet.net/analyze/javacharts.jsp?symbol= + searchText +

the problem is how to get these two button into one drop down menu button?

makondo and nicholas, thanks for the compliments. It's nice to know others get use out of this button.

Ricx,
I'll do you one better.
Install the Add to Search Bar firefox addon and the URLBar Search CustomButton. The URLBar button exactly duplicates the native firefox search bar button but takes its input from the address bar instead. Add to Search Bar addon let's you right click on any search box and create a search entry in firefox (which will work from the address bar because of the URLBar button). Place all the buttons next to the address bar and hide the search bar.
Here's what mine looks like:

I also use the Highlight buttons from the Google toolbar (which is otherwise hidden).

I hope this helps.

Actually I am sure this one could be modified to accomplish the task:
buttons-database/search-from-location-bar-t321.html

this.populatemenu would probably get replaced with a few menuitems for the chosen sites.

Another option is this one:
buttons-database/shorten-url-button-by-loucypher-t909.html

This one might be easier to edit actually. Just edit the sites leaving the code for getting the current url.

BTW, you could add those searches as search engines on your SearchBar and then they would show up in the button by LouCypher.

That might be the best way to accomplish this.

This is how I do it and it works great. It's exactly the suggestion I posted above. :P
