I may have missed this on the forums and if I did, I apologize.

I am running firefox 2.0.0.15. I downloaded SCClockDr's Edit button but when I go to add the button to my toolbar, it appears faded. When I put it on a toolbar, it stays faded.

I needs me some help. HELP!!!!!

Did you install this one? It should work. Sometimes you may need to ... hehe ... edit a button to initialize it. Button context menu/edit button/open the editor, close the editor. Sometimes you need to restart Fx. Don't know why the glitches but it does happen.

Okay, I'm a dork. The button I'm having problems with is the Notepad/Word/Wordpad button, not the Edit button. I have no idea how I managed to get that wrong.

Anyway, the button doesn't want to work for me. You said in your reply to "Button context menu/edit button/open the editor, close the editor". What editor? I right-click on the button and select Edit Button and all I see is the code, initilization code and help tabs. I don't see any editor so I'm lost.

I had toolbar buttons installed and I uninstalled it thinking that might be a problem but apparently that wasn't an issue so I'm still at a loss.

I'm using FF2.0.0.15 with custom buttons 2.0.7.6.

UPDATE: I've upgraded to FF3 and the button still won't work. FF doesn't like me. :cry: All I want is a little button that I can single click to open up Word.

Thanks.

That window with Code and Initialization code tabs is the CB editor, you're all right. It doesn't work for some other reason then. I don't have fx3 and can't tell if the buttons below will work but give it a try:
This one opens files and folders. They're pre-coded there but you can edit the code to point only to word.exe, notepad.exe, wordpad.exe.
Delete everything between 'menu items' lines and insert your paths (don't forget to switch the slashes! '\' to '/' !!). Change the items names (apps.push(['YOUR OWN ITEM NAME HERE', see my example below). It should then look something like this:

//------menu items--------
apps.push(['WordPad',folderImg,'c:ProgramFiles/Windows NT/Accessories/wordpad.exe']);
//------/menu items-------

The only reason i don't like this button is that it pops 'Done' alert every time you edit it and restart Fx. But it just needs to be updated, i think. Maybe whoever knows what they're doing can do this ... sometime.

Here's link to a thread about a single folder button. Maybe it will help? You can create the button yourself and see if it'll work in Fx3.
I use the Browse Folder button which you can find in my buttons list if you click on the (3) circles icon under my name --->
It works for me.

BTW, i hope you created a new profile to use with Fx3. I see problems posted all over forums when people try to use fx2 profile(-s) with Fx3.

If the word/wordpad button is not working it probably means that the path to the .exe files needs to be edited. Open the editor dialog and check and edit the paths to notepad, word and wordpad so they are appropriate for your computer. If you are not sure where they are on your system, find the shortcuts in your Start menu and right-click then click Properties.

Well, it sucks to be me. I followed what you guys said above and still no luck. I tried installing several other buttons from here and none of them worked.

I need a hug. :cry:

We need a little more information.
1. Are you using CustomButtons² 2.0.7.6?
2. What OS do you have?

If you provide the paths to the editors on your system I will make a button for you.
Feel free to send the info by private message if you need to.

Yes, I am using 2.0.7.6 on XP with FF3. My word is here: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\winword.exe.

Maybe I'm being punished for all the sinning I did in my youth? :lmao:

That is the path to Word that is coded in the button. The problem is probably the path to notepad. I will send you an edited button by pm to try. Let me know if it works.
