saved forms problem

Post your extension support questions here

Postby kebrus on Thu Jun 12, 2008 2:23 pm

hey guys, i had a problem where my saved forms of firefox weren't working (they did work but as soon as i close firefox they weren't save at all), i searched for a solution and one of then was checking if an extension was causing the problems, so i tested all my extensions one by one and found out custom buttons is the responsible

so, does anyone confirm this? or is just my buttons causing the problem?

You say it is your saved information from your forms?

Could you please post your Firefox version? Operating system? Custom Buttons² Version?

I will help in anyway I can to resolve it, thank you for taking the time to report the issue.

firefox: latest version 2.0.0.14 (but this also happened in previous versions)
custom buttons 2: latest version
os: windows xp sp3 (though i know it's the same thing in sp2)

symptoms/example:
i type any text in google and hit search, then i open a new tab and start typing the same text, firefox automatically gives you the suggestion of the word (or words) i typed before, but if i close firefox completely and open it again the suggestions are gone, one funny aspect is that not all suggestions are gone, somehow some of them are still there, before i didn't knew the logic of those but now i know the working saved forms were all done before installing custom buttons

i only have one custom button, one that mimics the GO button that i found here and i made some changes to my likings...
this is not something that just happened now, this problem is very old, most probably since i've start using custom buttons, only now i decided to solve it

I have tested in FF2.0.0.14 with CB2.0.7.6 in a completely fresh profile.

I was unable to reproduce the issue.

I have however seen times when two extensions installed together were causing issues, even when one was disabled. What I might suggest to you is to create a new profile and install CB2.0.7.6 alone to see if you still get the same issue.

Please, if you have time then try it in a new profile. Additionally, if you want to pm me your profile files (minus passwords and such) then I can give it a try like that. Or even a list of extensions you have installed so I can maybe install them and give it a shot as well.

Sometimes a profile can become corrupt, and that might be the issue. I really don't want to disown your report, it is simply that I can't reproduce it.

If I can't reproduce it, then there is really no way to fix it unfortunately.
