My "Scrapbook" and "SWP" buttons have been posted, on this site, without my knowledge or consent. In the event they are not removed within twenty-four hours and should any modified versions appear, in the future, I will take the matter up with your hosting company.

Please delete the account I created to post this. Thank you.

Hi weishun :)

The original forum for custom buttons was closed some time ago, although the button database there is still available.

What we have been doing lately is catching up on transferring buttons from the old forum to this one in order to make them more accessible and to allow people to ask for help or support that they might need as the extension (or indeed Firefox) updates as time goes by.

So I don't think it's a case of "theft" but of "housekeeping" if you see what I mean?

This is the official forum for Custom Buttons now, but if you'd like your buttons removed and to be only available on the old closed forum then please let us know.
Regards and stuff,
Richard.

Hello Squeaky,

You appear to be under the impression my buttons were posted on "the old forum". If that were the case, I would see what you mean.

They were not. The only site I've posted them on is MozillaZine and, as I said there: "If my button works with Custom Buttons² and Custom Buttons² users want to use it, they're welcome to install it from here".

There are a several references, on this forum, to it being for for Custom Buttons²; NOT Custom Buttons if you see what I mean?

I've, already, made it as clear as I can that I want my buttons removed. I do not want them "to be only available on the old closed" nor any other site I have not posted them on. I, also, do not want them posted, under another name, with minor modifications. Thank you.

Oh, right. My mistake here, I didn't realize that they were only on the main moz forum.

Actually, they look like useful buttons, so would it be OK if we were to remove the "buttons" from the database and replace them with the correct links to your buttons on the moz forum?

I'll take the buttons and links out as soon as I've posted this message, but leave the posts in place (empty) until I hear from you as to whether or not you'd like links to be replaced in them.

Sorry about the confusion (all mine) and I'll have a quiet word with the person who posted your buttons here about the difference between providing a link and infringement of copyright. I get the impression it was done in good spirit, but obviously not in the right way.

So our apologies and we'll be more than happy to put things right for you.
Regards and stuff,
Richard.

Thank you.

So far as links are concerned, I wouldn't "like" it but it's not up to me. If you want to post them, I'd suggest you check MZ's policies.

Given the person who posted the buttons would've had to have obtained them from my MZ post and my statement: "If my button works with Custom Buttons² and Custom Buttons² users want to use it, they're welcome to install it from here", it's difficult for me to believe "it was done in good spirit" but that's irrelevant.

For what it's worth, I'll suggest that if Custom Buttons² users were a little more helpful to those who prefer to use Custom Buttons, they'd likely find that helpfulness reciprocated. In any case, thank you again for taking care of this.

I'm not even going to go there. The button posts have been removed completely.

Richard.

I am the owner of the site and I did post the items. However I will be glad to do as you have requested. The buttons were posted because they are good buttons and credited you as the original owner.

Titling this thread as, "Stolen Content" is certainly a little outrageous. The code was certainly done by you, however there is no copyright on it. You are not the creator of the extensions either, so that makes even less sense. Firefox, Custom Buttons, Custom Buttons², and the buttons coded for it are all open source, unless specified otherwise. I would also like to point you to the Mozillazine Forums' terms of service

I am really not sure why you deem it appropriate to not share the buttons with others through the site that gets the most hits for Custom Buttons, but I will grant your wish. If you ever change your mind then we will be glad to have your buttons in our Button Database.

Your posts and your account have been deleted, at your request.

Nice knowing ya,
